ECA | Electronic Components Association

Organization

ECA is the manager of accreditation rights through the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) under the brand name of EIA. Any standards committee within the scope of ECA choosing to develop an American National Standard (ANS) may process their work through the ECA/EIA accreditation.  EIA Standards and Technology, a department within ECA, ensures that any standards-setting activities currently underway or planned meet due process and procedural guidelines as laid out in the Manual of Organization and Procedure (EIA EP-20) and the Legal Guides.

The Standards and Technology Department oversees the ECA presence in the global standards-setting arena by managing a number of Technical Committee and Subcommittee Secretariats and US Technical Advisory Groups (TAGs) sponsored by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and the Joint Technical Committee on Information Technology (JTC1) that is a combined effort of the IEC and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
