1.0 Introductions
Self-introductions were made.

2.0 Committee Organization and Procedures

2.1 Membership and Attendance
Attendance was taken, and it was determined that a quorum was present. All attendees verified the correctness of the information on the rosters.

2.2 Approval of Agenda
The Committee unanimously accepted the Agenda as presented.

2.3 Approval of October, 2000 Meeting Minutes
The minutes of the Monday, April 23, 2001 Hyatt Hotel San Antonio, Texas meeting were approved.

2.4 Correspondence
An update on the group's white paper will be addressed under 'New Business'.

2.5 Review of the Committee's Scope

No changes in committee scope.

2.6 DSCC Report
Since there was no Defense Supply Center Columbus representative present at today's meeting there was no DoD report.

3.0 Old Business

3.1 Update status of White Paper on ESD - Dave Ritchey
At the last meeting, Dave Ritchey reported on the results of testing concerning the effects of electrostatic discharge on thick-film resistors. This was compiled into a white paper that was presented at today's meeting. Some minor editorials were suggested for clarification. Dave will make the changes and send an electronic copy including the accompanying data to Ed Mikoski at ECA. The committee agreed to have the paper posted on the website. The conclusion was that there are no ESD problems for thick-film resistors.

3.2 Review ESD tests in EIA/IS-703 and compare to AEC-Q200 Rev B matrix. Also compare IEC-801 - Brian Piscitelli
The committee conducted a review discussion on the ESD tests in EIA/IS 703 and compared them to the AEC test Q200 Rev B dated Mar 15, 2000. Particularly the Figure 4 Passive Component HBM ESD test flow diagram. Subsequent to the discussion, the committee decided to prepare a value-size chart for presentation at the next meeting. Dave Ritchey took on responsibility for the task.

3.3 Add 0201 implementation issues to the agenda for future considerations - Nick Marshall
No one was sure what the specifics of the subject were, and since Nick was not present at the meeting and no report was submitted to the chair, this item will be deferred to the next meeting.

3.4 Review EIA-576-A, EIA-575-A, and CB-15 for updates and revisions - Brian Piscitelli
The documents were created in 1990. Based on discussions from the P-4 meeting this week, the classification designations will be changing, so it is time to review the documents and update them. 0402 and 0201 case sizes are being manufactured and they do not yet appear in the document. Maureen Slezak and Stephen Olster volunteered to review the documents and to convert them into Microsoft Word files. Brian volunteered to e-mail them some of the drawings for the figures to be inserted into the document.

The committee decided to withdraw PN-3809 that was begun in 1996. This project was for a document to be called CB-15 Resistor Sourcebook.

4.0 New Business

4.1 Decreased pitch dimensions on SMD tape and reel - Brian Piscitelli
KOA in Japan at an EIAJ meeting proposed the new ½ pitch 0402 and 0603 components on carrier tape. Ted Coler and Dave Ritchey both volunteered to present this proposal to the Automated Component Handling Committee for consideration.

4.2 Other
When the basic text of PDP-100 is revised by Caddy Greenidge in P-4 committee, then it is to be posted on the website. At that point in time, all members of the committee P-1 are encouraged to review the document and consider publishing outlines.

5.0 Next Meeting
The next meeting will be at the 4th ECA Engineering Summit week of 14 April 2002 in Albuquerque, NM at the Sheraton Old Town Hotel.

6.0 Adjournment
The committee adjourned at 17:17 PM.

This meeting was conducted in accordance with the EIA legal guidelines and the manual of organization and procedures.
